Air Travel

Air Travel, travelling by plane or flying, whichever way it is referred to, is probably the most popular method of transportation for holidaymakers moving from country to country.

People choose to travel by plane for lots of reasons; speed, comfort, convenience, ease and value for money – there are some great deals on cheap airfares throughout the year and seasonal promotions during peak holiday periods and the summer months to be had. Additionally with combined routes, travelling the globe has become increasingly easy and with thousands of people boarding planes every hour across the world, flyng has become as common as jumping in the car, riding a bike or taking the bus.

One thing that may put people off using airplanes is the cost. Long haul flights can be expensive with stopovers and lots of security to get through, however it is estimated that despite the economic recession, that the number of people using air transport to travel is increasing year on year, with families, groups and singles holidaying abroad as a luxury and an escape from the reality of the financial crisis.

Airports are also a hub of activity and provide a means of income for the travel industry. With an abundance of restaurants, retail outlets, duty frees and watering holes in many of the airports across Europe, people flock to the airport early to make the most of these and start the holiday early.

In addition, airports and airport parking companies can make a substantial amount of money by selling spaces both on and away from the airport terminals. Take the UK for example, the airport parking industry is very competitive and spaces sell quickly for Stansted, Luton and Birmingham airport parking.
